Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student can define the idea of sustainable development in agriculture. Student has general knowledge on the effect of agriculture on environment and quality of crops, especially food safety. Student distinguishes environmental conditions, knows how to explain their influence on crops, student is able to propose the possibilities how to control them in aspect of crops quality improvement. Student knows requirements of crops for food industry and fodder purpose. Student is acquainted with rules of creation and nurturing of meadows and pastures. Student can describe practical principles of plant fertilization, explains the effect of fertilizers effect on quality of crops. Student explains harmfulness of more important diseases, pests and weeds and their negative effect on quality of crops and animal products. Student names and indicates methods of plant protection against agrophages. Student explains directives in organic farming and is able to point out positive and negative aspects of that agricultural system. Student is able to distinguish seeds of crops and assess their value. Student can identify more important species of crops and level of risk by their pests, diseases and weeds occurring in the fields. Student can plan weed control in more important crops. Student can plan plant production for varying types of crop rotations depending on soil condition and direction of production considering quality of crops. Students can implement practical rules of Good Agricultural Practices. Competences: Personal and social competences (attitudes and behaviors): Student understands phenomenon between crop and environmental conditions and it creates pro-environmental attitude. Student follows according to rules of Good Agricultural Practices. Student is able to organize and conduct studies in team. Student is aware of the need of improvement their skills and self-betterment all the time. Student obeys rules of industrial safety during tillage. Student is responsible for equipment. Course content: Course contents: The determinants of agricultural production. The idea of sustainable development in agriculture. The effect of agriculture on environment and crops quality. Environment of crops. Tillage. Simplifications in tillage. The relevance of cover crops. Soil sickness. Sowing, planting and nurturing of crops. Crop harvest and storage. Fertilization of crops. The relevance of weeds in varying agrosystems. Weed control. Plant protection against diseases and pests. Integrated plant production – assumptions, environmental results, legislation. Organic farming. Principles of crop rotations. Meadows and pastures in farm. Code of Good Agricultural Practices.

Assessment methods: Assessment methods: Credit for practices: regular written marked tests, current mark (according to oral statements), progress in learning and level of activity. Attendance on practices is required, student can be absent from practices only once without excuse note . With reference to excused absence student is required to pass proper part of material.
