PolishLearning outcomes:
learning outcomes: the ability to properly plan the experiment, using the methods of mathematical statistics in the analysis of experimental data and field observations, and especially to acquaint students with the methods and possibilities of a correct analysis and evaluation of data using different techniques and computer programs including the possible sources of error and the correct interpretation of obtained results.Competences:
competencies: Students will understand the importance of different parameters and statistical procedures and will be able to understand to put them into practice. Will be able to reliably assess the significance of the studied phenomena and the observed regularity. Will he be able to choose an appropriate statistical test procedure for the problem and carry it using the appropriate computer application, will understand the significance of the results generated and will be able to properly interpret them.Prerequisites:
Prerequisites: without preconditions, indicated basic knowledge of probability.Course content:
Course contents: Statistics as a tool for life sciences research (descriptive and mathematical statistics). General population and sample. The mean and dispersion measures. Verify the hypothesis by means of binomial and normal distribution. Confidence intervals for the averages. Parametric and non-parametric tests for the assessment of the differences between means. Chi square tests. The most important systems in experimental biology. The statistical analysis of results - ANOVA, ANCOVA. Factorial and hierarchical systems. Systems with repeated measurements and their combinations. Fixed and random effects. Examination of the relationship between variables - regression and correlation analysis.Recommended literature:
