Familiarization with the specificity of the physiology of neonate and its basic problems. Indication on the differences between physiology of neonate and adult animal. Preparation the students to proper treatment of newborn puppies, kittens, foals, calves, piglets, lambs and goat kids, as well as to unassisted recognizing and accurate rescue in life threatening conditions. Competences:
Students acquire the general orientation in the specificity of neonatal physiology, the causes of their susceptibility to diseases of the rearing period and master the principles of rescue the life of endangered neonates. Prerequisites:
Ethology, Welfare and Animal Protection, Animal Physiology, Clinical diagnostics Course content:
Familiarization with the specificity of neonatal physiology and the basic problems of neonatal period. To pay attention on differences between newborn and adult animals’ physiology. Preparation to unassisted treatment of of newborn puppies, kittens, foals, calves, piglets, lambs and goat kids. Preparation to unassisted recognizing the problems and starting proper improving procedures in life threatening conditions. Recommended literature:
