Student has got the theoretical knowledge about the build, biology, and the diversity of herbivores occcuring on horticulture crops. He know the fundamentals of insects systematic. Ecological knowledge let him to recognize the factors determining pests abundance and their harmfulness. He knows beneficial entomofauna in gardens and orchards. He is knowledgeable in contemporary problems of plant protection.Competences:
practical ability of recognition herbivorous and beneficial fauna on plants, damage evaluating and taking decision on pest control. Prerequisites:
Zoology, fundamentals of ecologyCourse content:
Morfology, systematics, development of most common phytophagous animals, mainly insects and others as mites, nematodes, snails. Ecological basis of plant protection against pests. Abiotic and biotic factors effecting the abundance and dynamics of insects populations. Beneficial insects in horticultural production. Recommended literature:
