Learning outcomes: Students knows insects occuring on ornamental plants, their biology and ecology.

Competences: Student can select plant for gardening which will be favourable for beneficial entomofauna and will minimize pests occuring.

Prerequisites: Botany, ecology, general entomology

Course content: −Participation and role of insects in functioning of ecosystem and human economic −Population ekology – insect population dynamics, reasons of outbrakes −The importance of plant biodiversity. Mecanisms of ecosystems stability −Plant phenology and emergence of insects. Beneficial entomofauna in antropogenic evnviroments. Predatory and parasitic insects. Attractivity of flowers for insects. Direct methods of ornamental plant protection against. pests. Systematic review of insects occuring on ornamental plants.
