Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student: W1 –knows the anatomy of particular groups of vertebrates [KB_W06; KB_W07]; W2 – indicates significant anatomical similarities and differences between taxa [KB_W06; KB_W07]; W3 –indicates the genealogical relationships among vertebrates W4 – independently recognizes and characterizes different anatomical preparations [KB_W06]. Skills: Student: U1 – is able to work safely with anatomical preparations [KB_U06; KB_U15]; U2 – is able to draw anatomical preparations and prepare description of the drawing [KB¬_U06]; U3 – is able to recognize, on the basis of anatomical materials, different vertebrates groups [KB_U10]; U4 – is able to do microscopic analysis of different anatomical structures [KB_U06].
Competences: Personal and social competences (attitudes and behaviors): Student: K1 – is aware of importance of permanent and systematic updating of knowledge on new methods used in research [KB_K01]; K2 - is aware of responsibility of team members for common goals [KB_K02]; K3 - is aware of responsibility of anatomical preparations and equipment [KB_K08]; K4- understands importance of work safety regulations [KB_K09].
Prerequisites: Vertebrate zoology with systematic elements
Course content: Skeletal osteology (cranial skeleton, axial skeleton, appendicular skeleton) and splanchnology of different organ systems (digestive system, respiratory system, circulatory system, excretory system, urogenital system and nervous system) in all groups of vertebrates (also human). Additionally some aspects of integumentary system are discussed.

Assessment methods: Laboratory: Two written tests. Properly made and described drawings of different anatomical preparations. Presence is obligatory, student may have only one absence. Final grade will be calculated as arithmetic mean. Course: Written test. Students are eligible to take the exam only after passing laboratory. Exam lasts 60 min. Second term – oral exam.
Comment: because of practical character of laboratories groups should have up to 18 students.
