Learning outcomes: W1 – has extensive knowledge of the biology of waterfowl [BH2 – W01; R2_W01] W2 – has advanced knowledge of economic, legal and social aspects of duck and geese breeding [BH2-W03; R2A_W02] W3 – has detailed knowledge of waterfowl poultry production [BH2-W06][R2A_W03] and knows principles of its nutrition [BH2-W09; R2A_W04] W4 – has extensive knowledge of biodiversity protection of waterfowl poultry [BH2-W13; R2A_W06] U1 – is able to make a detailed assessment of all crucial elements in duck and geese breeding [BH2-U05; R2A_U05] as well as asses environment and health condition and select an appropriate methods of improvement [BH2 – U10; R2A_U06] U2 – is able to induct necessary modification in feeding system of waterfowl poultry [BH2-U07; R2A_U06] U3 – has ability to prepare an oral performance in polish language [BH2 – U14; R2A_U09]
Competences: K1- is aware of the ethics of his/her zootechnician profession [BH2-K04; R2A_K04] and of needs of training and improving professional competence in waterfowl poultry breeding [BH2-K07; R2A_K07] K2– is aware of responsibility for the production of high quality food, birds welfare and environment [BH2-K05; R2A_K05]
Prerequisites: Animal anatomy, animal physiology, basis of animal nutrition
Course content: To make the students familiar with wild ducks and geese, with economic significance of geese and ducks, breeding material that is currently supported in Poland, conditions of maintenance and feeding of water fowl, genetic reserve, conservative flocks and water birds met in amateur breeding.
