Learning outcomes
After completing the course a student is able to:
Knowledge
a) acquires theoretical and practical knowledge of the principles and laws of physics, which are indispensable for explaining the living processes that occur in cells and organs;
b) comes to know the physical methods for studying biological systems as used in veterinary medicine;
c) acquires theoretical and practical knowledge of the effects of physical factors on living organisms;
d) comes to know the physical principles of the methods used in diagnostics and therapy;
Practical skills
a) is able to conduct measurements of the physical quantities that describe the properties of a biological system or those that characterize a given process;
b) on the basis of the values of physical quantities which are vital for the operation of an organism, the graduate is able to estimate the health of the organism;
c) is able to determine the effect of physical parameters on some of the processes that occur in the organism.
Competences:
The student is aware of the necessity of using physical methods in diagnostic procedures and in protecting health against harmful action of physical agents in the natural environment. Prerequisites:
physics, biology Course content:
Fundamentals of classical mechanics, stability and equilibrium of animals, vibrations and waves, thermodynamics, balance and transport of heat in organisms, electric and magnetic properties of matter, electromagnetic waves, elements of nuclear physics, effects of physical factors on organisms.Recommended literature:
