After completing the course student have know mechanisms of molecular regulation of gene expression in prokaryote and eukaryote. Student understand restriction analyses and are capable to use basic internet data bases containing information about gene and protein.
Competences:
Student is able to work with basic apparatus for genome and proteome analyses: protein and DNA electrophoresis sets (PAGE and sepharose system), thermocyclers (PCR), gel documentation , data bases and internet availble tools.

Inorganic Chemistry, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, General Microbiology
Course content:
Prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell organization. Proteome: protein structure, function , methods of analysis, proteasomic degradation. Genome : organization and methods of analysis, DNA structure, gene, intron, exons . RNA and transcriptom : structure, function. Metabolic molecular biology: DNA replication , gene organization, regulation of expression, regulation of transcription in Prokaryota and Eukaryota. Importance of RNA in the control of protein biosynthesis: rybosome organisation, tRNA, rRNA, hnRNA, splicing, rybozym. Protein degradation. Introduction to Bioinformatics.
