Knowledge and understanding
On successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
- discuss taxonomy, development and agronomy of crop plants,
- identify crop plant species grown in Poland,
- explain the basic terms of plant cultivation (habitat, tillage and cultivation techniques) and apply them to everyday settings.
Skills
Students will be able to:
- select proper crop plant species to various environmental
conditions and their future usage,
- determine the impact of habitat and farming conditions on the yield and its quality.
Competences:
Students will be aware of:
- the need for continuous education,
- integration of knowledge from different disciplines in practice,
- importance of agricultural production in human and animal nutrition and its environmental impacts.

Course content: Historical and economical meaning of field cultivation, biology of development, forecrop, sowing, planting, fertilizing and harvesting of cultivated plant. The nutritive value of fruit and vegetable,sensory and diagnostic estimation of apple fruit, the analyse of the level of ripeness and usefulness for consumption.Recommended literature:
