Knowledge
Has knowledge in the field of safe designing, constructing and operating of technical installations. Is familiar with the environmental risks posed by industrial plants. Is familiar with rules applicable to organization of monitoring during industrial installation failures.
Skills
Can prepare a security report. Can use security documentation to plan actions required to prevent the consequences of risks. Can assess environmental risks during construction and operation of technical installations. On completion of the course the student can assess the safety of a technical installation. Can prepare a security report for a plant/facility. Can prepare the internal and external operating plan. Can assess and evaluate the risk for water management structures. Can plan the monitoring required to assess the risks in an industrial plant.
Social competencies (attitudes)
Knowledge of technical security principles is helpful in the analysis of civilisation risks and can be the basis for rational designing, constructing and operating of technical installations. Propagates appropriate accident-preventing attitudes in the society. Competences:
Prerequisites:
mathematics, physics, fluid mechanics.Course content:
Natural and industrial disasters. The SOVESO II directive. Legal instruments to prevent and mitigate serious industrial accidents. The situation in Poland and in other countries (in the European Union) - databases with information on accidents. Identification of hazards at the plant level (in selected industrial technologies). Security report for an industrial plant. Typical elements of a plant- and local-level operation & rescue plan for emergencies. Identification of causes of threat. Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA). Hazard And Operability Study (HAZOP). Trees of damage. Accident notification and warning systems. Risk evaluations for (water management) structures and installations. Organization of environmental monitoring during industrial accidents. Planning of actions required to prevent the consequences of risks. Recommended literature:
