Knowledge
He/she is familiar with issues and rules binding during an interview when applying for a job, understands the rules of cooperation with the project supervisor, knows the technique of writing and the rules of creating diploma theses, and is familiar with formal requirements concerning the engineering examination.
Skills
He/she is able to prepare a job offer (CV and motivation letter), can prepare to and participate in a job interview, can prepare and deliver a presentation on a topic assigned, can make a review of thematic literature, can prepare an engineering team thesis and work in a team, and can participate in a thorough exchange of experiences.
Competences:
He/she shows understanding of team work in a group, is aware of co-responsibility for the tasks performed, one for all, all for one, where the work of particular people gives a final result, is aware of the importance of getting prepared to vocational practice, and understands the importance of being consistent and disciplined during the execution of a task undertaken.Prerequisites:
Course content:
Introductory information. Handing out qualification questions and topics of seminar theses. Discussion of exemplary diploma engineering projects in the field of building engineering in the aspect of the designing rules and editorial requirements. Goals of engineering projects. Topics, scopes and organisation of executing diploma projects. Cooperation with project supervisors. Presentation of selected topics of engineering projects and the stage of advancement in them in the form of individual presentations – thesis title page, subject, plan, goal and scope of the project, review of thematic literature, and identification profile of the project elaborated. Difficulties encountered. Summarizing discussion after the difficulties are presented. Rules of elaborating a job offer - Curriculum Vitae (CV), a Motivation Letter (ML), a Thank You Letter (TYL) and other documents – specimens and examples. Job interviews – before, during and after the interview – questions and answers from the interviews as qualification tests when applying for a job. Technique of elaborating diploma theses. Basic rules of creating diploma theses – text structure, form, style and language. Technical preparation of the thesis main material – text and its division, text elements, references, patterns, illustrations and appendixes. Additional materials and information-supplementing ones – a list of literature, a list of tables and illustrations, a list of abbreviations and symbols, a list of contents, thesis title page. Delivery of the seminar report in the field of building engineering. Diploma examination. Course of examination. Assessment criteria. Examination committee. Examination questions. Announcement of examination results.
