Learning outcomes: W1-knows well enough biological properties pigs [BH2_W06]; W2 - has knowledge of the anatomy and functions of living pigs [BH2_W06]; W3-can describe the phenomenon of the growth of pigs, knows the different phases of their development [BH2_W06; BH2_W08; BH2_W07]; W4-known behavioral patterns of pigs and rules to ensure the welfare of pigs during their rearing alkierzowych conditions [BH2_W07; BH2_W15]. U1 - will gain the ability to design a pig farm on the basis of their knowledge of modern and at the same time intensive industrial production pigs or piglets [BH2_U06; BH2_U12]; U2 - has mastered the basic methods of breeding and rearing pigs [BH2_U12]; U3 - distinguish between age groups and production of pigs at the farm [BH2_U10]; U4-knowing the genetic properties and nutritional value of feeds can accurately develop a technologically- production foundation for a new farm and modernize the old [BH2_U06].

Competences: K1 - understand the effects of intensive pig production [BH2_K06]; K2 - is aware of the responsibility for the developed project farm [BH2_K02]; K3-has a responsibility to scale pig production under the cross-compliance [BH2_K08];

Prerequisites: knowledge of the basics of breeding and rearing, physiology and nutrition of pigs and livestock housing

Course content: Students will gain theoretical and practical knowledge related to the functioning of the farm, specializing in intensive pig production, the requirements in force in the European Union. Subject matter expertise is complemented by the possibility of designing an intensive forms of production. The main goal is to master the skill of student development technological and production assumptions to project construction or reconstruction of pig farms in the farm. In order to compete in the production of pork in the EU we have to take care of putting into practice in our country, and the cheaper forms of intensive pig production. Hence, there is a need to educate those skilled in the field our agriculture.
