The objective of the subject of study is to acquaint the students with the species and biology of insects utilised economically in Poland – honeybees, solitary bees, bumblebees and silkworms, and with the methods of their breeding (including equipment and devices needed) as well as with the ways to improve the population of the insects from the point of view of their effective use.Competences:
Attending the lesson on this subject, the students should acquire the knowledge of the biology scope for the honeybees, bumblebees and selected species of solitary bees, acquaint with the ways of controlled breeding of the insects, i.e. with the organization of the apiary and its outfit with the equipment, as well as with the breeding methods to improve the population of bees. The students are to acquaint also with the ways to acquire bee products, their biological value and use. The students should also acquire the knock of the most important bases of the biology and raising methods for the silkworm.Prerequisites:

Systematics of bees, bees living environment, the economic importance of honey bees, bumblebees and solitary bees, honey bee biology, economy hive bee pests and diseases, genetics and breeding grounds for bees, brood rearing queen bees, the method of rearing bumblebees and bees alone, the base benefits of bees, systematics and mulberry silkworm habitat, biology and rearing of silkworm mulberry silkworm food base.Recommended literature:
