dr hab. inż. Renata GalekLanguage of instruction:
PolishLearning outcomes:
The student has a basic understanding of the transmission of genetic information in the ontogeny and phylogeny and molecular mechanisms of response to stress factors - biotic and abiotic. He can describe the basic achievements in the field of biotechnology for the improvement of crop varieties resistant to pathogens and pests and abiotic stresses. Able to describe the use of in vitro cultures and micropropagation healthy selection of plant materials. It has a basic understanding of the possibilities for varieties resistant to viruses, bacteria, fungi and pests using biotechnological methods. The student has a basic knowledge of genome organization and can identify useful molecular markers for the selection of plants to stress biotic and abiotic factors.
The student knows the basic safety rules in the laboratory. It can prepare the material for use biotechnological methods. He understands the need to maintain aseptic conditions using in vitro culture techniques. Able to estimate the benefits of obtaining a material resistant to pathogens or abiotic stress-tolerant and need to use molecular biology methods in breeding practice Competences:
Student is able to assess the usefulness of biotechnology to accelerate the breeding cycle, and for the purposes of obtaining resistant forms. Able to follow health and safety rules in the lab and has a sense of responsibility for compliance with the relevant conditions when setting up experiments to derive healthy materials. Has a responsibility entrusted to equipment and plant material. Is aware of the need for self-education and self-improvement in terms of knowledge and skills to follow the procedures. Prerequisites:
Botany, genetics and plant breeding, biochemistryCourse content:
Awareness related to the use of in vitro cultures and highlight the applicability of these methods in obtaining plants resistant and facilitate the selection process. The possibility of using doubled haploid lines to speed up the process of improving varieties resistant to biotic and abiotic stresses. Better insight into the study of DNA polymorphism (molecular markers) and benefits from their use. Application of biotechnology in breeding and plant phytopatology diagnostics.Recommended literature:
