Student aquires essential theoretical and practical knowledge to recognize and classify basic plant communities in the fields. Student explains reasons and directions of changes in agrocenosis (reversible and irreversible). Student can recognize basic components of agrophytocenosis, student is able to use knowledge about relation between them to plan agricultural practices considering activities which protect field biodiversity.
Student also becomes skilfull at the assessment of plant species communities and recognizes basic species creating agrocenosis (crops, weeds). Student presents relations between main components of agrophytocenosis and environmental conditions as well as possibilities of regulation of agrocenosis composition.
Competences:
Student assesses and evaluates basic parameters of site conditions based on plant communities. Student organizes and conducts studies in team. Independently takes decisions in process of agricultural landscape formation, protection of agricultural environment and also use natural mechanisms in biocenosis to form crop productivity. Student appreciates the need for training and self-improvement.Prerequisites:
Biological principles of agronomy (botany, soil and crop management , microbiology, plant physiology, genetics), fundamentals of phytosociology. Course content:
Classification of field plant communities (ecological, phytosociological and agricultural). Agrophytocenosis structure. Weeds as element of field biodiversity. Varying meaning of weeds in conventional, sustainable and organic farming. Relations between agrocenosis components. Allelopathy phenomena and its effect on plant communities composition.
