Knowledge
Student has knowledge about the economics of water management; knows the basic functions of water management; knows the basic laws governing principles and objectives of water protection and it management; knows the basic effects of irregularities in the water management for the environment; knows the procedure relating with conducting drainage procedure; knows the economic aspects of water management.
Skills
Student can identify the factors that determine the conditions of water management; can identify the most important law rules for water management; can define the basic ecological losses in the water environment; can estimate the costs of the drainage procedure; can participate in the planning and management of water resources.

Object and scope of the economics of water management and the protection of surface waters. Water management, its functions and determinants of water management. Economic aspects of EU water protection policy. The principles and objectives of water protection policy. Economic instruments in water protection. Legal aspects of water management and water protection. Water protection methods and their costs. The concept, classification and valuation methods of ecological losses.
