Learning outcomes: Knowledge Student knows the phenomena associated with the flow of two-phase mixture (liquid - solid) in pipelines and sediment transport in rivers and reservoirs; knows the principles of design for hydraulic piping and basic parameters required in this process; has knowledge of erosion, sediment transport and sedimentation in rivers and reservoirs and the impact of these processes on the environment, water management and operation of hydraulic. Skills Student is able to evaluate and choose appropriate design parameters for hydro transport installation and for issues related to the movement of sediment, is able to identify methods to solve design problems related to the topic of the subject, can classify the types of mixtures on the basis of their physical and rheological properties, is able to measure the basic characteristics of the hydro transport and sediment movement.

Competences: Show understanding of the importance of hydro transport as an alternative to traditional forms of transport.

Prerequisites: physics, mathematics, fluid mechanics, meteorology and hydrology, soil mechanics

Course content: Purpose, distribution and components of installations for hydraulic mixtures, mixtures division due to their characteristics and rheological properties, rheology of mixtures, mixtures flow regimes and determination of their fundamental parameters, transportation of homogeneous and heterogeneous mixtures, determination of the energy losses in pipe flow hydromixture, hydromixtures flow models, the problem of mining concretions from the seabed, pumps and pipes for hydro transport, distribution of sediment transported in rivers depending on the flow regime and its features, the basic parameters of transport, the effect of sediment transport on the resistance to flow (benthic forms), silting of water reservoirs, sediment and erosion resistance and parameters of erosion, sediment movement and management of reservoirs, methods of removing sediment from reservoirs, sediment transport and the safety and operation of hydraulic structures, erosion below water structures.
