Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student has a general knowledge about nature of economics; knows the basic laws and relationships ruling market economy; has knowledge about the different types of entities in a market economy and relationships between them; has a basic knowledge of money, inflation, unemployment and cyclical changes and the consequences associated with them. Skills: Student is able to analyze and interpret basic market information; is able to characterize the main operators in market economy and indicate their importance and the interrelationship; is able to present the causes and effects of changes in market equilibrium; uses knowledge to solve problems of an economic nature in the workplace; is able to correctly interpret the phenomenon of inflation and unemployment and how to reduce them.

Competences: Social skills (attitude): Student thinks and acts in an entrepreneurial manner; complements and improves the acquired knowledge and skills; student takes part in the public debates and social projects taking into account economic aspects.

Prerequisites: basics of mathematics

Course content: The concept of economics, types of economies, the market and its mechanism of action, demand and supply and its determinants, competition in the economy and market structures, the enterprise and its environment, cost, revenue and profits, money, inflation and unemployment, cyclical nature of economic processes.
