Learning outcomes:
The student knows the basic technical characteristics of materials; distinguishes popular products of different materials and understands the rules associated with the behavior of the basic binders, knows the characteristics and symbols of metals and can describe the reactions of formation of different plastics.
Competences:
The student can find the right products for an application, he knows what methods are suitable for testing characteristics relevant to a particular application, is able to draw conclusions from the research; is able to use the standards (codes of practice).
Competences:
Students can work in a team – have a sense of responsibility for a team task - show responsibility for the laboratory equipment.
Prerequisites:
Physics, structural mechanics.Course content:
The technical characteristics of building materials and testing methods. Characteristics of building materials (rocks, ceramics, adhesives, binders, glass, wood, metals, plastics). Products from different materials in use in construction. Products for acoustic insulation, thermal insulation, water and damp proofing.Recommended literature:
