Knowledge: Students gain the basic information about morfology of insects, mites , nematodes, slugs, rodents – the pests of horticultural crops. They recognize their biology and affiliation to systematic groups. They combine pests gilds on individual plant species. They describe injuries of plant tissues by pests (R1A_W05, R1A_W06)
Abilities: Students gain the skill of preparing of plant protection schedule against pests for individual horticultural crops. They estimate the damage and explain the need for chemical protection. They fix the right date of spray. (R1A_U05, R1A_U06,R1A_U07.
Competences:
Competences: Students display the understanding of interactions between plants, pests and their abiotic and biotic habitat factors. They recommend the integrated and organic methods in plant protection. They are responsible for the quality of plant products and safety of food for consumers. (R1A_K05,R1A_K06, R1A_K07). Prerequisites:
Botany, Zoology, Horticulture, Dendrology, Ornamental plantsCourse content:
Morphology, systematics, development and behaviour of most common phytophagous animals, mainly insects, mites, nematodes and snails. Abiotic and biotic factors effecting the abundance and dynamics of insects populations.The practicals embrace the systematic review of the most important pests in orchards, horticultural (Horticulture) or ornamental crops (MGA).Recommended literature:
