Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student: W1 – has knowledge allowing to explain the basic biogeographical phenomenon and processes, know how to make the interesting multimedia presentation [KB2_W01]; W2 – defines and explain modern theories and laws of biogeography, know and explain the rules of functioning of living organisms in various types of ecosystems and biomes [KB2_W04]; W3 – values the influence of human economic activity on global distribution of plants and animals. [KB2_W05]. Skills: Student: U1 – analyzes and explain connections between environment and morphology of organism in various biogeographical zones [KB2_U03_BŚ]; U2 – values the influence of human activity on changes in various biogeographical zones [KB2_U04_BŚ]. U3 – prepares interesting multimedia presentation [KB2_U05].

Competences: Personal and social competences (attitudes and behaviors): Student: K1 – understands necessity of systematic actualization of knowledge from various scientific disciplines in the field of biogeography [KB2_K01]; K2 – ability of cooperation with other participants of the course [KB2_K02].

Prerequisites: Systematic botany, General ecology, Plant morphology, Invertebrate zoology, Vertebrate zoology

Course content: History of biogeographical research, distribution of plant and animal spiecies, dispersive factors and migrations, speciation and extinction, geographical diversity, glaciations and biogeographical changes in Pleistocene, bases of biogeographical processes, island biogeography.

Assessment methods: Tutorials: the current score (on the basis of oral statements). The presence on the tutorials is obligatory. The student can have only one unjustified absence. In the case of justified absence, the passing of the relevant part of the material is required. The final score from the tutorials is made on the basis of the average ratings. Examination: students having the final score from tutorials are passing the written examination test (45 questions closed) in a session examining board. The exam
