Student acquires knowledge about climate and soil requirements for vegetables, methods their propagation, cultivation plant protection, harvest and storage. He is able planning cultivation method for different vegetable species in field and protected conditions taking into consideration the environmental and economical factors. Competences:
After completing the course student is able to run the modern farm specializing in vegetable crops production. Depending on actual situation on the market one can be able to undertake different growing systems of vegetable crops in the open field and in protected conditions: conventional, integrated or proecological production.Prerequisites:
Plant Physiology, Soil Science, Plant NutritionCourse content:
Biology, nutritional value, suitability of recommended cultivars in growing for different purposes, methods of cultivation and harvest as well as storage conditions. The special attention will be talked on cultivation the most important species and in protected conditions the growing with the use of different mediums. Recommended literature:
