Learning outcomes: Student acquires theoretical and empirical basis for logistics and is able to discern patterns in the inside and understand the principles of materials management. Student is able to imaginatively and creatively use the knowledge of systems and logistics chains and logistics processes to minimize costs.

Competences: Ability to apply basic theoretical foundation for the operation of logistics operators, to analyze the needs of companies in the field of logistics, design and operation of logistics supply chains and optimize processes across the logistics chain.

Prerequisites: Statistics, operations research

Course content: The importance of logistics and task. Logistic processes. Basis and essence of the system approach in logistics. Logistics systems. The infrastructure of logistics processes. Logistics supply. Logistics of production. Logistics distribution. Logistics chain. Breakdown of the logistics chain. The process of creating value in the logistics chain. The effectiveness of logistics systems and its measurement. Logistics costs. Designing logistics systems. Computer-aided logistics systems.
