Knowledge:
knows the basic laws of classical genetics (Mendelian) [BI_W01, BI_W04, BI_W08, BI_W09, BI_W11, BI_W12];
have basic knowledge of molecular genetics, cytogenetics, genetics of the forming process of gender and genetic disorders of this
process, as well as in the basics of population genetics and quantitative traits [BI_W01, BI_W04, BI_W08, BI_W09, BI_W11,BI_W12];
Skills:
- distinguish the most common group of genetic traits, including the various pathologies, such as: types of chromosome aberrations,
monogenic inherited disorders, as well as quantitative polygenic traits (multifactorial) and polygenic qualitative [BI_U02, BI_U09];
Personal and social competences (attitudes and behaviors):
- during the course, the student consciously shaping their collegial relationships through networking cooperation for the realization of personal goals related to education [BI_K02];Competences:
The completion of the course provides an understanding of the mechanisms of inheritance of characteristics and genetic interpretation of the phenomena occurring at the molecular level. Prerequisites:
biochemistry, chemistry, zoologyCourse content:
Genetic determination of the characteristics of an organism, inheritance and variability characteristics of qualitative
and quantitative factors, mutagenic, classical genetics, molecular overall and animals, the size of genomes, an introduction to
population genetics a general basis of genetics and molecular biology, introduction to population genetics and quantitative traitsRecommended literature:

Methods of assessment exercises: written tests, oral answers, progress in learning and activity. Attendance at the exercises is mandatory; student can have only one unexcused absence. When student was absent he is required to pass the relevant part of the material. Assessment of exercises is based on the average ratings.
Methods of evaluation of the course: the student who has completed the exercise will have to pass written examination, during which he should answer the questions presented in the form of questions to solve. If the exam is not passed in the first term, the student has the right to pass it once more.Comment:
