Learning outcomes: W1 - Student has extended knowledge of the biology of ruminant animals (domestic and wild) [BH2_W01]; W2 - Student learns in detail the elements of physiology of reproduction and lactation, ruminant digestion [BH2 - W04, BH2 - W08]; W3 - Student learns the importance of products obtained from ruminants, also in terms of the production of functional foods [BH2_W06, BH2_W07]; W4 - student knows exactly taxonomy of species belonging to ruminants [BH2_W01]; U1 – Student is able to use available sources of information [BH2_U01, BH2_U06]; U2 – Students has the knowledge and skills to take up employment in animal production and husbandry [BH2_U02]; U3 - Student has the skills to prepare presentations and speeches [BH2_U13, BH2_U14]; U4 - The student has knowledge of animal husbandry, the use of products derived from them [BH2_U05, BH2_U06, BH2_U07];

Competences: K1 - The student is aware of the responsibility for the production and animal welfare [BH2_K05, BH2_K06]; K2- The student understands the need to improve skills and knowledge [BH2_K01]

Prerequisites: animal husbandry, zoology, biochemistry, genetics, animal production,

Course content: ruminants taxonomy, role and economic importance of this group of animals. The specificity of digestion and nutrition of ruminants. Reproduction and physiology of lactation. Features of ruminants. Products derived from ruminant animals.
