Learning outcomes: Knowledge Student knows the rules of location, construction, operation and closure of the landfill and its monitoring; knows: landfills constructions, principles of their location, design and execution. Skills Student able to assess place of location the landfill; has the ability of developing conceptual design and preparation of detailed solutions of individual elements of infrastructure landfill; knows how to prepare the data for the formal and legal documents related to the construction of landfill.

Competences: Student understands the importance of landfill in the waste management system; realizes the necessity of reducing the impact landfill on environmental; is aware of necessity of cooperation with the local community from earliest phase of the investment process.

Prerequisites: soil mechanics

Course content: Legal basis of the construction of waste's landfills. Types and characteristics of the waste. Statistics of waste. Types of waste's landfills and their location. Equipment and infrastructure elements of landfill. The impact of landfill on the environment. Sealing and dehydrating of landfill's basin. Formation, recognition, characterization and utilization of landfill's gas. Rules of operation municipal's landfills. Mineral's landfills. Closuring and remediating of the landfills. Monitoring. Sanitation of old landfills.
