Learning outcomes: Knowledge: The student has the knowledge of selected topics in mathematics (probability theory in particular). He/she understands the meaning of mathematics and statistics for describing and interpreting of phenomena and processes in life sciences [BH1 - W03, R1A-W01]. Skills: Is able to communicate precisely orally, in writing and in a graphical way [BH1 – U02, R1A_U02].
Competences:
Prerequisites: Mathematics at the basic matura level.
Course content: Functions: linear, polynomial, exponential, logarithmic. Number sequence. Limit of a sequence. Limit of a function. Derivative of a function. Maximum, minimum of a function. Application of a derivative to curve sketching. Convex and concave functions. Indefinite and definite integral and their application in physics, chemistry and biology. Basic notions of the probability theory.
