Learning outcomes: Knowledge: The student has knowledge about the creation of prokaryotes, evolution and systematics of the plant world. He or she knows about the importance of plants in the environment and human economy. Skills: Student is able to use plant marking guide and is able to recognize representatives of particular vascular plants families. Student is able to recognize plants in their natural environment, deduce the habitat conditions and choose proper species for re-cultivation of degraded areas.

Competences: Social competences: The student is aware of the need for lifelong continuing education. Understands the need to work in teams. Student is aware of his or her responsibilities.

Prerequisites: Botany I

Course content: Characteristics of the main groups of prokaryotes (Bacteria, Archea, Eukarya) and eukariotes (Protista, Fungi, Animalia, Plantea). Classification of organisms from Plantae kingdom. The origin of species. The emergence of plants from water onto land. The systematics of bacteria, cyanobacteria (blue-green alga) and algae. Discussing the structure, properties, development cycles and occurrence of Bryophytina, Pteridophyta and vascular plants. Systematic review of given angiosperm plant families, particularly protected species.

Assessment methods: Knowledge: Classes: tests. Lectures: exam. Skills: Assessment of knowledge of families and plants and their economic significance. Social competences: Validation of the selection of information, respect for copyright and the correct interpretation in relation to the protection of the environment.

Comment: The student is obliged to make a morphological herbarium composed of 70 plants.
