Knowledge: (30 % of evaluation)
- student completes a knowledge with reference to construction and preservation of landscape architecture objects using technical equipment and materials;
- student is able to specify and recognize basic problems associated with plant protection (pests, damages, nutrient deficiencies);
- student is familiar with basic principles in space design and is able to efficiently verify a possibility of planned projects implementation;
- student is able to make a decision changing a scope of activities in the field of construction and preservation of landscape architecture objects.
Skills: (50 % of evaluation)
- student is able to correctly determine a baseline of a designed area and suggest its proper development;
- student is prepared to evaluate correctness of executed works related to landscape architecture objects implementation;
- student develops skills in the field of minor gardening works (field classes);
- student develops skills in the field of selecting nursery plants (field classes at nursery plants producent).
Competences:
Social competences ( grounds ): (20% of evaluation)
- student is aware of investment process complexity and cooperation between landscape architect and representatives of other branches;
- student is aware of the broad scope of work in the field of landscape architecture (realisation of gardens, green areas, parks, indoor greenery, etc.);
- student is aware of responsibility of decisions made in the investment process associated with landscape architecture, and consequences resulting from incorrectly implemented activities.

The aim of Construction and Preservation of Landscape Architecture Objects is to prepare student for implementation of investments in the field of various complexity construction and preservation landscape architecture objects. During the course, tending survey reports, among others, vegetation and open waters tending; construction, formation, preservation and protection of urban greenery areas; threats, legal and organisational remedies are discussed. Student receives a great deal of information in the field of plant protection against pests and diseases. Other topics, discussed during classes, are: legal basics in pesticides application; usage, packaging and marketing of pesticides; trees tending; diagnosis and prevention of tree root system, trunk and crown damages; investor’s supervision over executed works in the field of conservation and preservation of landscape architecture objects; trees transplanting – preparatory process and acclimatization; methods of trees transplanting; irrigation and drainage systems in landscape architecture (including automatic irrigation systems in green areas); green areas management in the open landscape.Recommended literature:

Assessment methods:
Receiving a credit for exercises: completing each of the three parts of the exercises:
- Part I is evaluated on the basis of elaborated documentation, that is, functional – usable programme for potential investment area (a given multifamily housing development) and evaluation of task implementation.
- Part II is evaluated on the basis of prepared visual tree assessment in accordance with the method by Claus Mattheck, individual study for a given problematic tree (nature monument).
- Part III consists in field classes, that is, tending practice on trees and shrubs, trip to a plant nursery (ARBOREKO – Czech Republic).
