Knowledge
Student attains basic knowledge in the field of electricity and magnetism, and qualitatively the modern physics. He knows the typical methods of measurements of electrical values and understands the principles of operation of modern measuring devices.
Skills:
Student can connect simple electrical circuits and measure electrical parameters of matter. Is able to describe biological processes from the physical point of view (qualitatively and in same cases quantitatively).
Social skills (attitude):
Hi is aware of the fact that physical principles apply also to biological systems. He demonstrates creativity in solving problems. He can make use of knowledge and experience of the other members of the team. He is ready to actively live in society based on knowledge.
Competences:
Student can build himself the simple measuring set-up, perform measurements and present the results in graphical and analytical form. Knows how to apply physical laws to solve a simple practical problem. Can analyze typical, physical phenomena referring to physical principles. Is able to describe biological processes from the physical point of view (qualitatively and in same cases quantitatively). Prerequisites:
Physics with Elements of Biophysics I, Mathematics with elements of Statistics I. Course content:
Analysis of the membrane transport process as an example of non-equilibrium processes. Selected problems of electricity and magnetism, electrical phenomena in biological systems. Optical properties of matter. Influence of ionizing and e-m radiation into living organisms. Physical methods and instruments for system’s examination, particularly biological ones.Recommended literature:
