Student knows the types of tall buildings structural systems and their behavior.
Student knows the stability issues of tall buildings.
Student knows the design principles and selection of tall building structure computational model.
Knows the solutions of structural elements of individual load-resisting systems.
Skills
Can select the load-resisting system and choose the structural elements according to height of structure and other conditions.
Evaluate usefulness of the application of the computer model to the structural system calculation and available AUTOCAD software to perform tall buildings structure drawings.
Able to determine the loads acting on tall building structure

Introduction to the design issues of tall buildings. Loads of tall buildings. Classification of tall buildings structural systems. Factors influencing the choice of the load-resisting system. Spatial stiffness and deflection of the building. Floor systems. Introduction to the tall buildings optimization. Designing of building structural elements. Curtain walls. Tall building foundations..The erection technologies of tall buildings. Fire protection of structural elements. Examples of constructed tall buildings.
