Student knows rules of organic farms working as well as law. Student has knowledge of environmental biodiversity and its formation. Student knows rules of organic management. Student knows how to impose limitations on number of agrophages with methods allowed in organic production (biological, mechanical, physical)
A graduate of the field of study becomes skilful at assortment of methods allowed in organic crop production to limit number of pathogens, pests and weeds. Student is able to recognize important agrophages. Student can plan effective plant protection against agrophages without putting the farm at risk of making economic losses
Competences:
Student understands the meaning of organic method as a system oriented to protection of agricultural environment. Student uses acquired knowledge to propagate other than chemical methods to protect crops. Student obeys law and is aware of necessity of organic farm management in ethical way. Student is conscious of the need for training and self-improvement for actual profession. Prerequisites:
Botany, Principles of plant production, General and detailed plant production, Plant NutritionCourse content:
Prevention for plant protection. The relevance of crop rotation and agrotechnical practices in control of separate agrophages number. Non-chemical methods of agrophages control in crops. Epidemiology of economically relevant diseases and pests of plants. The source of infection. The reasons of weed infestation. Weeds as element of agrophytocenosis and part of agricultural biodiversity. Recommended literature:
