Knowledge:
student has a knowledge on the genetic basis of behavioural traits in animals; student knows tools to estimate the genetic parameters of behavioural traits and result of their traits selection.
Skills:
student can analyse the genetic basis of behavioural traits; student can interpret phenotypic, physiological and genetic relations of animal behavioural traits.
Competences:
Personal and social competences (attitudes and behaviors):
student understands the necessity of knowledge update on different biology branches.
Prerequisites:
zoology, animal physiology, animal genetics. Course content:
Characterization of behavioural traits and role of behavioural traits in evolution and domestication processes in animals. Genetic parameters of behavioural traits. Genetic basis of different forms of animal behaviour (especially aggressive behaviour). Natural and artificial selection of behavioural traits. Behavioural traits in breeding work in animals.
