Learning outcomes: Knowledge Student: W1 – knows methods of chemical and instrumental analysis [KB2_W01_BT]; W2 - knows methods and analytical techniques used in the laboratory [KB2_W01_BT]; W3 - knows rules for processing of biological material [KB2_W01_BT]; W4 - has the knowledge needed to handle laboratory equipment [KB2_W01_BT]; W5 - is able to indicate the advantages and disadvantages of various analytical techniques [KB2_W01_BT]. Skills Student: U1 - is able to use the spectroscopic and optical methods commonly used in analytical laboratory [KB2_U01]; U2 - can evaluate the factors affecting the results of laboratory tests, avoiding before and post analytical mistakes [KB2_U01]; U3 - interprets the results of the laboratory tests on the basis of the standards and reference values [KB2_U01]; U4 - collects and interprets the data obtained from the analysis and on this basis, draws conclusions [KB2_U01]; U5 - identifies the quality management systems in terms of animal and human health [KB2_U01].

Competences: Personal and social competences (attitudes) Student: K1 - demonstrates responsibility for an assessment of the hazards arising from research techniques and shows attention to creating safe work conditions [KB2_K07]

Prerequisites:

Course content: Safety and work hygiene in the laboratory, sample collection and preparation for analysis, analytical errors, the concept of standards and reference values, basic methods (classical, instrumental) and techniques used in the laboratory analytics, interpretation of results, quality control testing, accreditation of the laboratory.
