dr inż. Marta PasławskaLanguage of instruction:
PolishLearning outcomes:
Knowledge:
Student is familiar with basic rules and calculation rudiments for parameters connected with mechanical and thermal-mass proceedings in Bioprocess Engineering. Student is capable to determine flow parameters of different biotechnological media and to characterize mass and heat transfer during this process.
Skills:
Student is able to destine technical parameters relevant for designing bioprocesses and knows how to measure these parameters. Student is also able to do design and calculate typical centers of biotechnological installation, including flow parameters, refrigeration systems, heat exchangers and humidification systems. He/she can choose an adequate apparatus and can propose optimal physical conditions to carry on the bioprocess.
Competences:
Social skills (attitude):
Student understands mechanical procesess observed in Bioprocess Engineering and meny instalations used by people; has consciousness of responsibility for tasks realized in team; student understands also the need for permanent training and self-education.
Prerequisites:
Mathematics, Physics, Physical Chemistry Course content:
Rheology and flow of biotechnological medium, hydrodynamics of biomass aeration, stirring of liquids in bioreactors. Special types of liquid-movement: sedimentation, filtration, centrifugation, two- and three-phase flow, layer flow, fluidization. Basic principles containing heat and mass transport. Transformation of technical parameters from small to the large scale. Recommended literature:
