Learning outcomes: Knowledge: The student knows the main species of grasses used on lawns and sport grounds, and principles of care sodded areas. Student has knowledge about the impact of grassland on the environment.
Skills: The student has the ability to recognize and appropriate select of lawn grass species into habitat conditions and the land use. He can select the appropriate type of lawn, and also has the ability to assess the condition of lawns.Competences:
Social competence: Understands the need to changes in the approach to the issues related to the use of plants in the economy and human environment. Student is able to point problems at the interface between agricultural production and environmental protection and respect for the principles of sustainable development.Prerequisites:
botany, soil science
Course content:
The usefulness and value of species and mixtures of grasses used on lawns. Methods of establishment of lawns. Renovation and development of alternative methods sodded areas. Occurrence and methods of weed control, diseases and pests on lawns. Grasslands on environmental protection.Recommended literature:
