Learning outcomes: Knowledge: knows the current plans and programmes regarding the agricultural sector on different levels; knows how to describe the scope of data on rural areas and the sources for its retrieval; can present the relations between spatial planning and management and agricultural planning; knows the content of thematic maps used in studies for the purposes of spatial planning in rural areas; can enumerate the methods of predicting changes in land use; can describe econometric modelling in predicting changes cause by local plan guidelines; Abilities: can characterise the plans and programmes related to the agricultural sector on different levels; can gather data regarding rural space stored in various sources for the purposes of planning and programming development; can prepare and discuss a prognosis of change in land use, can use the econometric model for predicting changes caused by local plan guidelines; can defend the usefulness of management and agricultural plans;

Competences: Social competence (attitudes): shows an understanding of the importance of developing rural areas; understands and defends the need to formulate management and agricultural plans in the context of using EU funds for developing rural areas; is aware of the influence of planning on the quality of life in rural areas.

Prerequisites: the fundamentals of spatial economy, the environmental determinants of spatial economy, spatial planning.

Course content: The agricultural sector in plans and programmes on different levels of governance. Information sources on rural areas in Poland. Thematic maps as a source of data used in making decisions regarding the development of rural areas. Optimum land use – change theories and predicting changes. The econometric models used to predict changes caused by local plan guidelines. Ecological production in agriculture and its influence on the guidelines of selected programmes and local plans. Management and agricultural planning in Poland – the goals, current state, predicted changes.
