Knowledge
Student has knowledge of the issues in the field of geotechnical engineering; knows the criteria for the location of earth structure and also topographical and geotechnical problems with their execution; knows the use of different types of geosynthetics; knows the technical conditions of communication earth structure.
Skills
The student can design and measure earth structure; can measure mechanically stabilized earth and structures with geosynthetics; can choose the heavy equipments to excavate, transport and compaction; can choose the machines and equipments for special works; can perform the calculations and construction sections for designed objects.Competences:
The student understands the importance of infrastructure development for the country's development; is aware of the impact of linear earth structure to the environment.

Technical conditions what should be fulfilled by the construction of earth structure. Location criteria of earth structure. Calculation volume of earth works and distribution of the masses. Types of machines used in earth works, physical and mechanical properties of technical soil. Dimensioning earth structure, strengthening and modifications of the soil, the use of geosynthetics, mechanically stabilized earth. Earth works in special conditions. Repair of earth structure, maintenance and upkeep.Recommended literature:
