Learning outcomes: Knowledge: After completing the course student knows the state of animal production in Poland and worldwide, and directions of its development, know the specificity of various farm animal species husbandry, an influence of feeding, maintenance, care and performance on quality of animal products obtained, possibility of controlling of composition and quality of animal products as a result of different genetic practices and husbandry factors; know the results of large-scale breeding and various levels of production intensification. Skills: Knows the results of genetic improvement of animals and effects of production intensification, has knowledge about rules of ecological farming. Has a skill of animal product analysis in aspects of binding law (cross compliance), heading toward improvement of the animal products. Has a skill of using basic zootechnical nomenclature in a field of animal breeding.

Competences: Competences: After completing the course student know basic zootechnical nomenclature, topography of particular animal species, rules of particular technological groups and farm animal species breeding, principles of nutrition, maintenance, care and utilization of particular groups and species of farm animals, know the results of genetic improvement of animals and production intensification, know the possibilities and range of controlling of composition and quality of animal products, know rules of organic breeding of farm animals.

Prerequisites: Basic knowledge in the field of biology

Course content: Conditions of milk production in Poland and worldwide; trends in animal production development; breeding and husbandry of particular farm animal species; specificity of husbandry and maintenance of various technological groups of farm animals; influence of production intensification on quality of food produced; results of production intensification and large-scale breeding on the environment, health, and performance of animals; practices with animals, project work, laboratory work and rules of some animal products assessment.
