Learning outcomes: Knowledge: acquires theoretical and practical knowledge connected with technical aspects of horticultural production, possesses basic knowledge on development trends in horticultural machines, gathers knowledge about equipping a horticultural farm with modern techniques O1– W17. Determines regulations for safe use of machines and equipment applied in horticultural production O1–W18. Ability: acquires the ability to analyse, design and implement optimum equipment for a horticultural farm with technical means for horticultural production O1 –U06, recommends technical solutions leading to increase in the effectiveness of horticultural production, ability to plan and carry out individually proper operation and use of gardening /horticultural machines O1–U14.

Competences: Social competence: is aware of: importance of usefulness assessment for individual solutions in gardening and horticultural machines designed for use in horticultural production processes for the purpose of obtaining proper quality products, O1–K01, responsibility connected with planning the use of and using machines in accordance with guidelines, influence on safety of machine use, proper operation of gardening/horticultural machines and equipment O1–K03.

Prerequisites: basis of computer science

Course content: Horticultural production technologies, gardening and horticultural machines and assessment of machine application efficiency, modern techniques on a farm for horticultural production, designing the use of gardening and horticultural machines, selecting machines for works in horticultural production technologies.

Assessment methods: Evaluating results of education in terms of knowledge: written examination. Evaluating results of education in terms of skills: ability to assess usefulness of machines for use in processing industry and properly performed inspection and maintenance activities, preparation of machinery for work. Evaluation of effects of education in terms of social competence: individual work and group work, discussion in class on the innovativeness of solutions in machines and its effects. Obtaining credit for classes is compulsory on the basis of current project work completion and in a written form after semester 3. Minimum level of knowledge required to complete a given semester – 65%..
