Knowledge:
The student has knowledge of the classification, principles of operation, circuits and characteristics of internal combustion engines,knows the principles of engine selection the propulsion of vehicles and agricultural machines. It has a theoretical knowledge related to the design, construction and exploitation of combustion engines. He knows the technical solutions used in internal combustion engines to reduce the negative impact on the environment.
Skills:
The student is able to prepare project documentation relating to internal combustion engine. Has the ability to perform calculations of the main dimensions of the engine and its systems, able to perform strength calculations for each element of the engine. Is able to select appropriate materials for the construction of each of the parts of the engine. Is able to carry out an analysis and evaluation of internal combustion engine in terms of impact on the environment.
Competences:
The student understands the need and knows the possibilities for further education to explore their knowledge of internal combustion engines which drive agricultural vehicles. Is aware of the importance, responsibility and consequences of the activity of an engineer agricultural and forestry in terms of responsibility, environmental conditions, due to the proper operation of internal combustion engine design as an important threat to the environment. Prerequisites:
Materials science, Technical mechanics, Strength of materials, Fundamentals of machine design. Course content:
The general construction of the engine, the division of engine. The theory of the combustion process in Diesel and gasoline engines. Replacing the working medium. Circuits of internal combustion engines. The characteristics of the engine, principles of creating of the characteristics and their use. Crank - piston system. Power supplies diesel and gasoline engines Supercharger systems. Timing system - changes in phase in timing systems. Cooling systems. Exhaust systems and exhaust aftertreatment systems. Ignition systems for combustion engines.Recommended literature:

Assessment methods:
Assessment of learning outcomes in terms of knowledge: written exam, tests on exercises.
Assessment of learning outcomes in terms of skills: the correctness of the implementation of the design calculations and drawings.
Assessment of learning outcomes in terms of social competence: individual work, awareness of responsibility for the task, conscientiousness in preparation for the tasks.
