Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student W1 – knows mechanisms of animal behavior and their determinants; W2 – knows mechanisms modifying animal behavior in various housing systems; W3 – knows behavior changes resulting from lack of breeding environment conditions fulfillment; Skills: Student U1 – is able to recognize the reasons of negative phenomena in animals behavior and minimize them.
Competences: Student K1 – is aware of responsibility for animals and sense of ethics in handling with them.
Prerequisites: genetics, animal anatomy and physiology, animal breeding
Course content: Basic definitions related to animal behavior, characteristics of behavior categories and forms, standards of daily behaviors, genetic and physiological determinants of animal behavior, utilization of the knowledge concerning animal behavior (social, sexual behaviors, care on progeny, aggressive, cognitive behaviors, subordination) in the breeding, their modifications in various systems of animals housing, stress phenomenon, behavior and welfare.
