Knowledge
After the course the student is familiar with the various aspects of the application of chiral catalysts. Knows the use of enzymes, chiral catalysts in the synthesis of selected chiral pharmaceuticals.
Skills
On the basis of the application of chiral catalysts in modern biotechnology, pharmacy analyses methods used in scientific publications. Is able to find the catalyst to enantiselective synthesis of biologically active compounds.
Competences:
Social skills (attitude)
The student is creative, capable of solving problems presented during the lecture the scope of application of chiral catalysts. In the course of the discussion is active and open of the opinion of others, aware of the rapidly progressive development of the biological sciences.
Prerequisites:
Organic Chemistry, BiochemistryCourse content:
Structure of chiral catalysis. It mechanism of catalysts action. Catalysis overview in the example of reduction of ketones, double bonds, enantioselective epoxidation, dihydroxylation, esterification, hydrolysis of biologically active compounds. Recommended literature:
