Knowledge
Student:
W1 - knows basic laws and principles of physics necessary to explain processes taking place in living organisms [BC1_W02];
W2 - possess general knowledge of physical methods used in studies of biological objects [BC1_W02, BC1_W18];
W3 - is aware of effects of action of physical factors on organisms [BC1_W19];
W4 - knows basic technical and physical rules governing apparatuses used in therapy and diagnostics [BC1_W02, BC1_W21].
Skills
Student:
U1 - can measure physical parameters describing properties of biological system or process, without external help [BC1_U02, BC1_U12];
U2 - can determine, on the basis of values of physical parameters describing factors influencing organisms, real health danger for organisms [BC1_U17];
U3 - can determine influence of physical factors on the course of some processes taking place in organism [BC1_U06, BC1_U11];
U4 – He is able to analyze dangers arising from sudden changes in physical parameters of environment [BC1_U15].
Competences:
Personal and social competences (attitudes and behaviors)
Student:
K1 - understands responsibilities for works realized in team [BC1_K06];
K2 - is aware of responsibility for work undertook in his team [BC1_K02, BC1_K09];
K3 - is aware of responsibility for used equipment [BC1_K08];
K4 - understands the importance of BHP rules when acting under potentially danger physical factors [BC1_K09].
Prerequisites:
noneCourse content:
Fundamentals of classical mechanics, stability and equilibrium of animals, oscillations and waves, thermodynamics, production and loss of energy (temperature control), transport of heat and matter in organisms, biophysics of biological membranes, electromagnetic waves, elements of nuclear physics, effects of physical agents on organisms. Assessment methods:
Laboratory exercises assessment: Systematic (1-2 passing grades per month) oral or written checking of theoretical knowledge necessary to accomplish planned exercise. Presence in exercises is obligatory. Student is obliged to justify his absence. He must perform planned exercise in such event. Final grade obtained is an average of all passing grades and an additional condition is a presentation of a written documentation of all exercises performed.
Course assessment: Students that passed positively laboratory exercises are expected to pass written exam in a form of test (28 questions). The exam duration is 45 min. Student may repeat test (2 term – oral or written form) if the first one was not satisfactory.
