Knowledge: Student: W1 - knows the systematic and classification of poultry species, chicken and turkey origin, describes their external morphology
W2 – knows general roles of poultry production
W3 – knows the basic technologies in poultry production
W4 - possesses the knowledge of technology of poultry products production (hen eggs, chicken and turkey broiler meat)
Sklills: Student: U1 - correctly carries out the embryo development in the chicken eggs
U2 - is able to prepare the oral presentation in Polish language on avian anatomy and other problems related to poultry production and managementCompetences:
Student: K1 - is responsible for proper treatment of poultry
K2 - is aware of the necessity of continuous updating the knowledge related to poultry management and production Prerequisites:
Animal physiology, genetics, basis of animal nutrition.Course content:
Characteristics and types of poultry production; external morphology and performances of chicken and turkey; genetic and environmental factors affecting egg and meat production; technologies and management of chicken and turkey production; morphology of egg as avian female gamete; technology of egg incubation; embryonic development of birds; biological analysis of incubation; characteristics of bird digestive tract and basis of feeding the different technological groups of chicken.Recommended literature:

During exercises knowledge (W1 and W2) will be verified on the basis of two written tests (3 descriptive questions in each test), including only issues discussed in the exercises. Answers to each question will be evaluated scale from 2 to 5. To obtain a positive mark a 60% of correct answers is required. On the basis of the prepared and given lecture with multimedia presentation on the specifics of the birds' anatomy the U2 abilities will be assessed. During laboratory exercises U1 abilities on knowledge of the principles and analysis of the regularity of the embryonic development of chicken eggs will be evaluated. K1 competence regarding the handling of the birds will be assessed during the practical activities taking place in didactic-experimental facility Kożuchowska Street 7, while U2- will be assessed on the basis of the individual interview on the necessity for further knowledge supplementation and self-improvement in respect of poultry rearing.
The presence on the exercises is mandatory; a student can have only one unexcused absence. In case of excused absence the student is required to pass the relevant part of the material. Completion of exercises on the basis of the average rating of all outcomes. To complete the exercise an average rating of 3.0 is required.
Students with a passing exercise for exam is knowledge (W3,W4). For the 4 questions of concern. The test will last 90 minutes. The positive rating will be required to acquire 60% positive response. If the exam is not included in the first period, a student has the right to take it either orally or in writing in the second period.Comment:
