Knowledge: Student:
W1 – identifies and explains problems from the field of environmental toxicology
W2 – has ability to characterize the effects of xenobiotics, due to the mechanisms of xenobiotics toxicity
W3 – explains dose - response relationship with the use of statistical analysis tools
W4 – defines basis of spectrophotometric, potentiometric and conductometric methods
W5 - defines and explains basic terms of toxicology
Skills:
Student:
U1 - properly uses avalaible tests of environment assessment
U2 - is able to use avalaible analytical methods to determine the level of xenobiotcs in environmental and biological samples
U3 – is able to calculate toxic doses and describes the effetcs of livestock poisoning
U4 – is able to characterize main problems within environmental toxicolgy Competences:
Student:
K1 - is active in searching for effective and objective tests of environmental protection
K2- is aware of the responsibility for the tasks commonly performed in the research team
K3 - is working in a laboratory according to the safety and health procedures Prerequisites:
chemistry, physics, biochemistry;Course content:
Problems of the influence of the industrial contamination on the livestock and on the health of the animals as well as accumulation of the toxins in the animal materials and products, the effect of the intensive use of the fertilizers and pesticides on the toxicity of the feed, toxicity tests, selected issues of an environmental toxicology.Recommended literature:

The written test (10 open test questions, 1 point per question, the threshold to pass - 6 points, test duration 15 min.). The report from each of the exercises performed, multimedia presentation of the selected environmental toxicology issue (10 min. ), current rating (based on oral statements) of laboratory activity. Attendance at the exercises is mandatory; student can have only one unexcused absence. In case of the excused absence student is required to pass the relevant part of the material (within 2 weeks of absence, a written test, 5 Questions / 1 point per question, the threshold to pass - 3 points, test duration 10 min.). Assessment of exercises is based on the average ratings. Students with positive note from exercises are obligate to pass written examination in the examination session (5 open test questions, 1 point per question, the threshold to pass- 2.6 points, exam duration 60 min.). If the exam is not passed in the first term, the student has the right to retake exam, to the end of the examination session, on terms as in the first termComment:
