Learning outcomes: Knowledge: The student knows the scope for using spatial data; is familiar with methods of determining the position and sources of spatial data as well as rules for data collecting, processing and analysing, the basis of WebGIS and VGI; knows methods of searching for information on the Internet. Abilities: The student can implement a simple GIS system; is able to perform simple and complex GIS analysis; can search for information on the Internet.
Competences: The student understands the importance of spatial information and its impact on the development of the national economy.
Prerequisites: Advanced Information Technology
Course content: GIS application area. Representation of spatial data. Positioning. Data obtaining and gathering in the database. Spatial data processing and analysis. Data generalization and visualization. GIS on the Internet, searching for information. Social networking sites GIS. Free software.
Recommended literature:
Assessment methods: exercise - execution and completion of two GIS projects; lecture - passing two written tests. In final score 50% is score from exercise and 50% from lectures
