W1 – has wider knowledge about biology and detailed knowledge about animal production;

Student: K1 – understands the need of learning through the life and ameliorating professional skills concerning animal breeding, can work in group. Prerequisites:
Prerequisites: completing the 1st level of studyCourse content:
Course contents: breeding objectives, criteria of breeding strategies selection, economical aspects of livestock improvement, gene flow in population, breeding work in a herd and large population, biotechniques supporting animal breeding, marker assisted selection, elimination of holders of unprofitable genes, methods of designing breeding programs, biological and economical optimisation of improvement process, analysis of conventional and unconventional breeding programs.Recommended literature:

During practicals, knowledge W1 and W2 are verified on the basis of two written and rated tests (45 min.). On each of them, there are 4 questions (descriptive and problem) involving topics discussed during lectures and practicals. To pass the test student will have to obtain at least 60% of points (answers to each question are evaluated on a scale of 0 to 5 points). Skills U1 and U2 are assessed by validating tasks carried out with use of Genup and SelAction software. Also competence K1, that require working in teams, is assessed during practicals.
Completion of the course is based on the average assessment from practicals and lectures.The prerequisiteis to obtain an average of 3.0 in all established learning outcomes.Comment:
