Learning outcomes: Knowledge: student knows the basic rights and issues of the basics of genetics, including classical genetics, cytogenetics, genetics of the process of gender forming , population genetics and quantitative traits. Skills: student is able to explain and analyze the phenomenon of genetic and issues related to inheritance according to Mendel's laws (also in the features of linked and related to the sex), and autosomal-linked traits ; student is able to correctly interpret the distribution of variability of quantitative and qualitative, and deduce from this conclusion; student is able to recognize and identify the type of chromosomal aberrations in the cytogenetic analysis.

Competences: Student updates the knowledge of genetics and related disciplines, and is aware of update their knowledge throughout their lives.

Prerequisites: Organic chemistry with elements of inorganic chemistry

Course content: Genetic determination of the characteristics of an organism, inheritance and variability characteristics of qualitative and quantitative factors, mutagenic, classical genetics, molecular overall and animals, the size of genomes, an introduction to population genetics a general basis of genetics and molecular biology, introduction to population genetics and quantitative traits.

Assessment methods: Assessment exercises: written tests to assess the current rating (based on oral statements) progress and activity. The presence of the exercises is compulsory, the student may have only one unauthorized absence. In the case of excused absences the student is required to pass the relevant part of the material. Completion of exercises based on the average ratings. Completion of the course: student who has completed the exercise, effective written examination, during which you should answer the questions presented in the form of problems to solve. If the exam you will fail in the first period, the student has the right to take it again in the second period.
